Cruise and Shapiro Summarized cruise essay in your own words and then explain my reaction to it.

Cruise and Shapiro
Summarized cruise essay in your own words and then explain my reaction to it.

Cruise begins his article by making statements of an old comment made him a fool all other people some of the time, you can even for some of the people all the time, you can't fool all the people all the time.
He goes on to say that you can fool some of the people all the time and enough for the people to be able to win the White House.  He talks about the economic boom in the classes in the political insight of different officials and candidates during the politicians run for a White House position.  According to Daniel Patrick Moynihan "everyone is entitled into his opinion that not his phone fax"
He designed the state many other quotes from different politicians made over the years and order to obtain their political positions. He even talks about how some of the quotes have been turned into ads and that they're not always good for the system. He goes on to explain with other quotes that over the years there has been many quotes that has exploited the facts. So with that said the majority of the article is about the exploitation E-Fax through the years from Abraham Lincoln on down to present day President Obama.

The fax of the matter it's how you betray the facts get people to believe that those facts are actually truth.I agree with all these facts that cruise brought up in his article. It is been proven over the years it doesn't matter which voices speaking on either side, things can be spun so people think what they say is true. Does along with the old wives tale; don't watch out for lies watch out for the deceit. For hiding the truth is the same as telling a lie. It's called lying by omission. Yes it's wrong and politicians do it.

Scott & Lampe; The title of this article is, smart phone of the future will be your brain was very well written.

Do we control technology or does it control us? Will it control us?It amazes me is how many companies are involved with providing software for the future. There are so many things coming around the turnpike that we don't even know how to keep up with the technology we have let alone what will come.
If the question is will Technology control us? My answer is, yes.  It can control us if we let it.  We can let it use our brains to become mush. Write down to operating a GPS.  Whatever happened to using your brain and a map for figuring out where you are?
Many people these days just turn on the GPS and let it guide them to where they want to go. This is a disturbing fact as a lot of people complain the GPS is takeing them places they didn't need to go to get them were they wanted to go. For example it will take you 10 minutes out of your way just to go to 10 minutes down the road. With a round-trip of 20 minutes, that would normally take 10 minutes.
Then there is the adaptability of the smart phones to the wristband. So tell me when are we ever become detached from our digital world, if it's connected to us?  Just like the smart glasses we will stay connected as long as were wearing them. That's disturbing to me considering the fact that most people don't even pay attention to someone in the same room with them if they have a smart phone or device they can access the Internet with. Somehow detaching from the person sitting right next to you is much easier than detaching from that person that is on the other end of the digital device.
This has changed our society, as we know it. Teens and college students these days have issues with connecting with people.  Having face-to-face eye contact for example or even just having a typical conversation. Of course there is always gift of memory loss the smart phones have given us. How many of us can remember birthdays or appointments we've put on our calendars on our devices? Yes technology has made big leaps and bounds over the past couple years. But it frightens me when there's a microchip installed in someone's brain for any sort of reason. I don't agree with the fact that we should be putting microchips into human beings. Personally I believe it is along the lines of a book from the Bible called Revelations where the Antichrist put some mark on people.

It’s hard for me to understand why anyone would want to give all their information on the little tiny microchip that could be read or accessed or hacked into by just about anyone who knows anything about computers on microchips. Let's face it that's a huge community of people. As the saying goes on most smart phones LOL! But really who will be the last one LOLING?  Not Me!

Heaven is for Real reveals Pathos and Ethos

Students selected reading why does this really illustrate of those pathos and ethos

The story that I have selected is called Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent in 2010 published in Nashville Tennessee by Thomas Nelson Thomas Nelson is registered trademark of Thomas Nelson Inc.

Heaven is for real has been on the bestsellers list.  This book is by Colton’s father in conjunction with the co-author. Colton also helps write this book in part. The father includes information and where he states he actually did personal interviews with his son to write this book.  Colton's father relates with the book but specific detail and research that he got from the positions as well as the hospitals. The pictures in the book are there so you can see the characters in the book.  This helps putting faces to names of the character in the book because it is a true story written by a family about the events that happened to them.
This book is a well written book about a family and how quickly and illness can impact their life.  Before a very difficult situation happens Justin acknowledgments in the prologue of the story about this young boy gives inspiration. This is a story about a young boy by the name of Colton who has a hard time in life he goes through a traumatic experience. You will be grabbed by the drama that is expressed in the story. The story opens with this young man going to a party for Fourth of July with his mother and father and his brother in Sioux City Falls South Dakota.  The trip to go see Colton's family was a Long road trip. Colton and his family went to see his uncle Steve his wife and new cousin.
Literally on this trip they had no idea when they decided to take this Trip one of their children with almost die.  They had gone to a lot of places during this road trip. Colton's father talks in detail about the many places they went along the way. One of those activities they decided to do was go to petting zoo.

Colton loved the reptiles but there was a gentleman there who had a tarantula and he tried to get Casey, Coleman's sister and Colton to pet the tarantula. Colton stared at it that he had a hard time putting it eventually they left Casey already held the Translate so Casey got a sticker.  Colton wanted a sticker but he couldn't get a sticker without holding the tarantula. This proved very difficult for Colton he did not want to hold the spider but he did want the sticker. So eventually they went back and Colton did hold the spider it’s name was Rosie.  Colton finally got his sticker they had gone everywhere they been in the butterfly tented seen every kind of reptile. That night they went out to eat at a pizza place. Colton decided to have spaghetti. Called and told his mom that he was going to be sick and then he got sick he threw up. They thought it was the flu but little did they know. It didn't take long for Coleman to get really bad they had x-rayed him and everything they had determined that there was a dark mass in his stomach insides had exploded his appendix burst. By the following Monday call me was intensive care fighting for his life.

This story is so intense that it will keep you wanting to read it until your tent finished. How does it fit in with the logos pathos and ethos? The information provided by the author and very beginning specifically covers the family and the outline of what there were getting ready to do and what they're going to do that is the logic behind it but to carry-on through story there's lots of areas were logos are in fact they have to keep logic throughout the whole story or would be an emotional turmoil story.  The Pathos are well envisioned in this book as well if you read closely about each one of the individuals in each role that they had to play there so much passion behind it you can't help it understand exactly what each person's thinking or feeling.
The Ethos are expressed in the story by filing different areas to show the research that the parents did from interviewing the doctor. As well as getting information to us about what Colton said about the different things.  It was true to the characters to talk to talk and walk the walk the audience will be captivated by the story just because of the very details of the story are so precise.
This book was a very well thought out, planned and choreographed. I really hope that someone he reads my report will read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.

Define logos, pathos, ethos. Give an example of each, and how can knowing about logos pathos and ethos help you're writing?

Logos are basic logical sentences. The senses give logic and credibility so that you may apply logical reasoning in your writing. This is so the person who is reading what you've wrote could obviously make a logical conclusion as to what you're trying to convey in the writing. For example: Plants omit oxygen in the air. Humans breathe in oxygen from the air.

Pathos provides an emotional appeal in the paragraph.  This is so the person reading the paragraph can be emotionally connected with the story.  For example I have received lots of plants in my home as gifts from family when I had a car accident. Each plant reminds me of how much my family cares about me.  Plants are so beautiful and keep me healthy too.

Ethos Show the credibility of the characters you're talking about and the actual events.  This happens by creating a sentence or paragraph this states the facts about that person and or events happening in and around that person.
For example I used to be an EMT.  I received my certification as an EMT-D in 1991. Being licensed has an EMT-D I was certified in defibrillation along with CPR.

Incorporating Logos, Pathos and Ethos in your writing create full paragraphs with logic, emotion, facts and credibility. You will have a well-rounded story that gives every reader interest. With that said there are times when you do not want to have emotion in your writing. There will be situations where you do not need logic in your story. Knowing about these styles of writing will be helpful in many stories that we write in the future.
