It's amazing to see the change in my usual writing process. The way
I have written in the past is far different to the way I will write going
forward. I have learned I need to change my usual writing process, from the
start of this class.
In the past I would create an outline of the
subject matter in the first paragraph. Then elaborating on the subject matter.
This is so my audience would follow the time line of subject matter. It always
seemed to be the best way to cover things. But, I skipped the research of
the subject, and the outline. Then I went straight to the drafting of the
complete subject. I see now, that was not the most complete way to wright.
Now I know we all need do
some research of the subject we write about. Not just for the sake of the
audience, for the finding and explaining of the facts. This is so the audience
will be well informed of the subject.
And that brings me to the audience. I see now, I thought of the
audience while writing in the past. However, I did not clarify in my head any
specific kind of audience as a part of my outline. This is important to the
writing process so the presentation of the subject is clear to the audience.
Cyndy,
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice perception of your writing. For me personally, picking a topic even if it is a persuasion topic or an argumentative essay, I tend to chose issues and topics I can relate to. Yes this makes it a little more personal and maybe a tad uncomfortable as the writer, but then you don't have to do as much research, because writing is also reflective of life's experiences. Not all writings, but some can and should utilize ones own life's experiences. The process may be a little uneasy at first, but will definitely show in your writing the more tangible the correlation of your writing is to your experience.
Cyndy, don't beat yourself up too much! There isn't a "right way" to write, but every writing process can improve. I hope you can take what you've learned from the reading, the video, and your experience, and identify some ways to improve your process. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCyndy-I have to agree with you that my writing today is far different than in high school. I am the worst on writing papers and only hope that I can gain experience in this class as well.
